A question about Sadam Hussein?
Answers:
Incredibly.
Iraq has the largest untapped oil reserves left in the world.
Saddam wanted to remove the UN Sanctions and start developing the fields.
He also wanted to trade the oil in Euros, not US Dollars.
The collapse of the US dollar would not have been immediate, since OPEC trades in them, but Saudi and Kuwaiti oil reserves are dwindling quickly.
Can Illegal Immigrants get their drivers license in any state? They could in TN until 2 years ago.?
Extortion rings a bell.
But the main reason to remove Saddam from power was the spread of terrorism and our eye opening on 9/11. Hmmm, what government with WMD'S (assumed at the time) hates, America, supports terrorism, doesn't live up to their agreed cease fire conditions, and fires on our planes?
How can I withdraw a pending POLITICAL ASYLUM case in the US?
You see what impact the other two maniacs (In Iran and Venezuela) have had on U.S. gas prices. What do think that one more maniac controlling more oil would do the gas prices? Right! $5.00 or $6.00 gas would have become a reality.
How does a person survive on minimum wage?
Their are powerful people in the world. We know this, it's a given. Those people that have that power have a responsibility to the rest of the world. Their responsibility is to ensure they act in a manner that is fair and just to the rest of the free world. Religion aside, morality crosses all ethnic backgrounds. It is what should flourish during our developmental years and turn us into responsible citizens. When someone in a position of power loses his sense of it, it is up to society as a whole to intervene and correct the wrongs. Socially we did the right thing
I want to wade through all the quagmire and make sure that you understand that the first Gulf War, of which I served in, was our fault. Every veteran that served then knows that the CIA was responsible for circumventing Iraq in oil sales. They began buying oil from Kuwait. Iraq and Saddam found out and did the only thing he could to keep his country out of poverty. He invaded Kuwait. I am sure he knew full well the consequences his country would face. It was at this point that he became an irresponsible person in power. No matter where you place blame, the fact remains that the US oil market is the largest in the world. We cannot support our own oil consumption. Without Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Trinidad, Venezuala, Azerbaijan, and the like our prices would climb out of control. Take it from someone who knows. We have oil reserves strategically placed all over the United States. All of these oil reserves combined though, could not keep the US afloat for long in the event of a terrorist attack against our plants or pipelines. The US evaluates threats against our economy, as well as, against our citizens. We cannot fall victim to a regime that is intent on our destruction. If you ask me, Iraq is the small fish in the pond at the moment. We have control over their oil, their economy, and their people. The insurgents and IED's that populate that countryside are waining. We have other countries to deal with, I can almost guarantee that the fight against those who wish us harm is not going to be over with Iraq. To control oil on this planet, for now, is the ultimate display of power. The US will never let someone control that theatre again.
How do you feel about the statement: "We didnt cross the border, the border crossed us."?
Like it or not, the reality is that if Saddam had ended up gaining control all of the oil reserves in the Middle-East, he would have the economy of the entire world - not just the US - by the short hairs.
Oil keeps every economy in the world moving. Without oil (gas and diesel) trucks won't deliver food and other vital supplies.
If the trucks, trains, planes and ships don't have fuel, they can't deliver their cargo. As a direct result, factories don't get the materials they need, and markets don't get their food. If the factories don't get the supplies they need, the people don't work, and thus, the people don't earn their wages, and thus cannot buy the food they need to live...
Saddam Hussein, or someone like him having complete control over the oil fields of the Middle-East, having the ability to dictate how much oil is pumped, and whom gets the oil, could be disastrous at best.
The world as it is right now is so dependent on oil that it quite literally IS the difference between life and death for a people and a civilization.
Haven't you heard?... Sadam Hussein dead by hanging
A victory in the battle against illegal immigration.?
The effect on the US - oil wise - would be negligent as we have enough oil in Alaska and Texas to keep cars gos for 200 years or more, and by that time we probably won't be burning gas in vehicles anymore. Financial wise - he wanted to deal in Euro dollars and that would collapse the American dollar, which could potentially destroy America.
