He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free. He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent…He qualifies for food stamps He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care… His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school… He requires bilingual teachers and books…He qualifies for relief from high energy bills… If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at that taxpayer's expense.
He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.
Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.
He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.
Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour Left after paying their bills and his. The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

$30 an hour is perhaps a bit much, but I can see $20 per hour quite easily.
You make a very important point. What you did not mention is the economic cost of money flowing out of the country every payday. That is money that an American worker would spend here. Instead, it gets earned here but does not get taxed. It then benefits an overseas economy. That is, simply, wrong.
By the way, If I had $5 or $6 per hour left after payng bills, I would be very happy indeed.

I don't know if your math adds up, but, yes, 'cheap' labor is only 'cheap' from the perspective of the employer - from the persective of society, a cheap-labor-providing underclass can be quite a burden.
Who did the work that "American's won't do" 20 or 30 years ago?
I have a friend from mexico who earns about $24 and hour and works 60 hours a week. He pays both state and federal income taxes. Last year he claimed a bunch of children in mexico on his taxes and got a ton of money back,
now let me reverse the question on you..have you ever been an illegal immigrant? have u had to worry about getting deported and maybe not even see your children at the end of the day?
