I don't know about heroes with medals, but the US has Filipino war veterans it owes residence to, my understanding is we promised it to them when they enlisted in WWII, and it never happened. They keep trying to pin it to some bill doomed to die, I have no idea why. I can't see anyone having a problem with passing it as a standalone bill. It is an embarrassment, frankly.

People tend to forget the sacrifices our veterans have made as they reintigrate back into civilian life. Most of them are humble and only want to get on with life and support their families as all good people do.
Such stories you all have mentioned are all too common. Along comes the "cause of the week" and attention and funding gets shifted to it. Meanwhile, the brave veterans suffer. The cuts made to Veteran's Administration hospitals are atrocious, as have other cuts giving the veterans less and less in the way of benefits.
These folks should be taken care of first! Many paid the supreme price to keep our country free. Why should we fund the welfare freeloaders, illegal aliens, and everyone else who wants to leech off of us?
REMEMBER OUR VETERANS. WE NEED TO FIGHT FOR THEM! THEY FOUGHT FOR US ONCE, REMEMBER?
