Why are many U.S. schools running out of money?

Some say it's because we are spending millions to try and educate people that have no legal right to be here. Can this be the reason? If so how?

How can i get job in singapore? (I'm foreigner)?

Technically the government does not "fund" illegal aliens.
Schools have limited finances, based on student census. In areas with a high influx of non-English speaking students, the schools must provide ESL classes, sometimes for years for the same students. They must also provide remedial classes for those students. To 'make ends meet', these schools are having to cut traditional classes for American kids. How ironic is it that schools cut foreign language classes for American kids to fund ESL for non-American students? Some have cut gifted and talented and advanced classes for American kids, taking away a competitive edge for those students who wish to apply to colleges and universities with high standards. In addition, free lunch programs are overwhelmed by the children of illegal aliens in many schools.
Average costs per student vary from state to state, but if one accepted a low figure of $7000 annually per student and multiplied by millions the costs nationwide are staggering. Currently figures estimate average nationally at closer to $10,000 per student. Does anyone believe illegal aliens pay enough in taxes to cover the education costs for their children? No, for obviously they don't. My children are grown now, but I want my tax dollars to be spent educating American kids and children of legal immigrants.

What's your View About This Article on Hillary, Obama, and La Raza?

Is it easier for an American to obtain British citizenship?

A lot of it has to do with waste. Also, teachers union.

When I was in school back in the 60's my school district had a superentendent, 2 clerks, and a part-time truant officer. Now the superentendent's office has a superentendent, 3 assitant superentendents, an athletic director, a director of special education, a finance director, a deputy finance director, a funding director, 3 social workers, a phychiatrist, and a mirage of secretaries and clerks. And that's just at the superentendent's office; doesn't count all the layers of office staff at the different schools! My school district has more support staff than they do teachers!

Visa question: how and where to file complaint against a J visa holder.?

I've heard it's ESL, hiring more bilingual teachers, paying teachers to learn another language, the free and reduced lunch program, school overcrowding. If these students aren't even suppose to be here yeah that's too pricey.

Moving to Canada or moving boyfriend to the USA?

It costs $6,000.00 more to educate someone who doesn't speak English. I think that is why property taxes keep getting raised - so they don't run out of money. But the main reason is that the schools are run by the government, who can't do anything competently or cost efficiently.

I'm planning to petition my fiance here in America? What requirements do I need to do this?

Wrongful budget cuts and illegal immigrants not to mention deep pockets and too many working and running the system..
Millions of tax payer dollars every year in every state going down the tubes!

Sponsor his wife who is an immigrant?

I think schools are spending money inefficiently...I graduated recently and every year they had to buy new computers and software that doesnt even work...one year we had apple computers one year we had dell...whats the point of that? We were only allowed to use them once every semester and you couldnt really use them because software was blocking access to the internet.

It also has to do with a teacher shortage, there are very few people wanting to be teachers because of todays kids...I agree that illegal immigrarants have their fair share of the issue but you also have to look at the population growth in cities...everyones moving into cities and the school system cant handle it...we used to joke that by 2010 the whole football field will be covered with portable classrooms.

lol I always love getting the hate

Does Anybody Really Care To Hear About Elvia Arrellano??

Well in my border town,,I see hundreds of cars with mexican license plates dropping off their kids, and I know 80-90% of those, have no legal right to be attending our schools,,,,

Is it even possible for a Mexican to get a tourist visa to visit the US?

Anon. Yahoo did a thing on the best and worse High school. Only one Highshcool out of the 20 listed spent less than $7,000 for a student. THe average is around $9,000 per student. Because illegal immigrants are far more expensive to train, a higher percent does not have a working knowledge of English. Expenses like ESL classes drives up the cost.
THose who keep coming up with watr driving down our budget, are irrational. School has a different budget and even if the war is a drain, having to educate people who don't belong here also drain our educational system. Even if they contribute taxes, they would not contribute enough to educate one student. $10,000 for educating 1 student is more than what the average pays in taxes and there are other government expenditures the illegal uses. People think city maintenance is free, but every additional person drives up cost, and they do so disporportionately.

I'm a US citizen and want to travel to Europe for 5-6 months. Do I need to get a visa?

Because it's run by the government which never runs anything well. Their answer is to keep throwing money at all of our failing government schools, but that doesn't do anything to boost our test scores. The Federal Government has no business in educating our children. Get the government out and the competition in, and schools will be better.

With Elvira being caught by police, don't you think she should of thought carefully first?

The reason is because where the schools only had maybe 7,000 or 8,000 the next year (or in a 2 or 3 years) it goes up to 10,000 or 12,000...but the thing is that there is not added tax revenue from the parents, because the majority of them don't pay any taxes, except maybe a little sales tax. This is EXACTLY what happened in Hazelton, Pennsylvania...and exactly how their Mayor described it.

LA or NYC, which has more languages spoken?

It sure helps! Extra students that take time and resources away from children that are suppose to be here.

What every American should know about Mexico's southern border?

That is a contributing factor to be sure.

Another contributing factor is the privatization push by the Republicans. They are starving the schools of money to make their point.

Applying for US visa?

School budget is local, war has nothing to do with that.
it is a combination of things, such as:
Corrupted government and school officials, non show jobs, political favors, jobs unnecessarily created just to get your Friend inside the door, kick back money for construction jobs, teachers union, illegal immigrants (anchor babies)etc, etc, etc.
any board of education in the northeast part of the country is extremely efficient when it comes to persuading people to vote yes, any time they want more money.
they convince renters the money comes from their land lord real estate tax and not from their pocket, the campaigning usually begins in school.
Give you an example, i pay 11,000.00 tax yearly, and most of the money goes to school.
I guess this is the down side of a democracy,
where every idiot has the right to vote

PS

Fedup, you have a great Mayor we need more like him

Teachers are losing their jobs because they cannot speak Spanish, is that racism?

Look people, school spending is a state to state issue as well as a city to city issue. Charlotte, NC which is a presumably large city, need more schools because of it's population growth as well and the city expanding it's county borders. Building new home developments every 5 miles does not help either. The developers should be charged for each home built and using the factor of 2.5 children per household causing them to return up to $15,000 per home back to the local school district where they develope and the paving of the neighborhood should fall back onto the developers as well. This cuts city developement spending and the schools get money back. Rather it is a retirement gated community or a family based neighborhood, everytime they put up a house they need to give money back to the school system instead of becoming a burden to the homeowner that bought the new home or the current homeowners in the same area. Better yet, if they want to sell new homes for a family residential area then make them build a school in that same area! The taxes they charge those who do not live in their area are paying higher taxes in areas we do not use. Why should Janes taxes increase on the Northend of town because Sally bought a new home in the Southend of town if Jane doesn't go to that side of town or use it's schools and facilities?
It has nothing to do with ESL teachers here or in many of our surrounding states because most of the children from non english speaking families have their children in school at the pre K level which means they will not need that many ESL teachers for each school district which has been cost effective in those areas. Many of the ESL teachers we have have started becoming classroom teachers because they are cutting the amount of ESL teachers because of lack of need. Maybe in the border states there will always be a need but here in the southeast and midwest - the need for ESL's has dropped considerably and by the way, ESL teachers make less than regular teachers - approximately- $10 to $15 an hour. They were asking for more money so they opted these teachers to become full time teachers or loose their funding and their position. Well, let's just say we have more biligual teachers in the schools rather than specialty teachers.

In my candy coated world,we all live free.whats wrong with that?

I agree with you. A person can come her illegally and we have to foot the bill for their education (which drives up the cost for the people who actually pay to make up the difference) and their 12 kids as well as their houseing, food stamps, medical care, social security checks (that they didn't earn) and everything else, while people who were born here and lived all their lives working 2-3 jobs just to barely feed their family can't get anything without jumping through hoops and then still don't get even half of what they illegals get. How can I become a retroactive illegal immigrant? Sign me up.

How long does it take to get Green Card?

That's what we Americans do, run out of money!
The U.S. is trillions of dollars in the red, people and companies go bankrupt right and left, most people are in some kind of debt. I think we have no concept of money and how to spend it wisely, we just take advantage of it while it's there and b*tch about it and beg for more when it's not...

Immigration scale . . . Where are you?

Because we pay our teachers a full time wage for the part time job that they do. If we increased our school year from 180 days to maybe 240 days , our kids might learn something. Maybe then they could compete with the rest of the world in math and science. Too bad the teachers unions will never let it happen.
