6 month visitor visa uk?

If someone enters the UK on a visitor visa and he/she gets a 6 month leave to remain then when does the leave actually expires.
I.e., if he/she entered, say, on the 1st of may does the visa expire exactly the 1st of november? If this isn't hte case any clarification will be appreciated.

I don't know about the UK -- but in the US, they put a stamp in the passport and write in the date on which the authorized stay expires.

you would be given a date in your passport to leave, however if you do overstay you will be given a free house and money to live on
