By Sara A. Carter - Islamic extremists embedded in the United States — posing as Hispanic nationals — are partnering with violent Mexican drug gangs to finance terror networks in the Middle East, according to a Drug Enforcement Administration report.
"Since drug traffickers and terrorists operate in a clandestine environment, both groups utilize similar methodologies to function ... all lend themselves to facilitation and are among the essential elements that may contribute to the successful conclusion of a catastrophic event by terrorists," said the confidential report, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times.
The 2005 report outlines an ongoing scheme in which multiple Middle Eastern drug-trafficking and terrorist cells operating in the U.S. fund terror networks overseas, aided by established Mexican cartels with highly sophisticated trafficking routes.

Why do not our fearless leaders have no urgency about drug trafficking or terrorist cells, they are more concerned about a guest worker program or amnesty for the illegals , than our safety. We should all vote everyone out of office that allows amnesty to get in the way border securityYes.

Yes, we need American soldiers about every 2,000 feet apart on the border. THE ENTIRE U.S. - Mexico BORDER. And shoot anyone who comes across that border illegally. They should be considered a terrorist threat if attempting to cross the border illegally.

Building a wall to deter terrorism makes little sense to me. Building a wall to deter illegal immigration makes a little more sense, but not much. If the people want to get in, they'll either go around it or dig underneath it. And who do you think will be contracted to BUILD it? The mexican-americans themselves are the most likely candidates for the job.
Just get used to the idea that if terrorists really want to strike us, then they will, on their terms. We are fortunate that our military is keeping them occupied on their home soil in the middle east/central asia. US interests are still too vulnerable and to exposed to provide 100% round-the-clock security. Our enemies are smarter, more resourceful and more organized than we give them credit for, or they wouldnt have been as successful as they have been.

To keep a watch on all entry points to the U.S., both borders must be walled and gated so that people coming in can be background checked for Islamic Terrorist links (or any other links to nation-states or private networks hostile to the U.S.). Ditto for ports and airports (and spaceports in the future). Just don't sell the operations of the ports and border gates to any Arab state-owned companies.

Why just at our Southern border? Why not at our much larger Northern border? Do you think that even though the Canadian dollar is also valued much less than the American dollar that the Canadians do not come here to work illegally? Drugs are coming in from everywhere & have been for many, many years long before "illegals" were a problem. Much of our own drug problem is from within. In case you haven't noticed there are meth labs all over the place. A guy my husband worked with who lives in a middle class suburb had one busted 3 doors down from him last year. Drugs are everywhere. It's our own fault. If we stop the demand for it we stop the trafficking.
I'm personally sick & tired of Americans using "illegals" as the scapegoats for ALL of our problems, most of which we've been dealing with LONG before they came. It's time we stood up & took responsibility for our own actions & started looking in the mirror at the finger pointing directly to ourselves. As long as we keep blaming others we will never solve anything.

Border Patrol agents do an excellent job with what they have and corruption is certainly not rampant. These people consider themselves more like policeman and they love catching illegals. They love the minute men helping them find illegals and they lock them up. The wall should be built across the southern border. And then look at fencing Canada. The answer can never be "they'll just go around". This is our country and we have a born right to defend it.
I sincerely think, that every country has the right to build any legal defence that secure its borders, there is no doubt about it...it will stop most if the undocumented paople that are crossing the borders, to seek a better way of life, and among some of them, as it happens everywhere, some sour apples,,,,that give a bad name to illegal or other immigration (remember that not all illegal immigrants are thieves, murderers, scammers etc) the vast majority just want a decent job.
However, its good to secure all borders...even the coasts..they can allow smugglers too,,,,,,,

As bad as the Berlin wall was, It worked. And It was well patrolled and whoever dare cross that wall, they were dealt with In the harshest way. So, look at history. They got their point across. I say whatever It takes. Treat the U.S. like they do friggin Area 51. They don't mess around at that place!

And it would be GREAT if a "HUGE wall with military reinforcement" could protect the US and Americans from Terrorists, Drug cartels and law breaking migrants. Unforutnatly this proverbial stone will serve more as a symbol- than actual protection (as for the military personell- we need them home for it to work the way you say).
Aside from this, I do not think it will deter people from doing what they believe is best- for them (whether it is selling drugs, carrying out some genocide, or looking for a better life). If they are willing to risk their lives and die trying- a wall ain't going to do much.
In order for the "border/wall" to work, change is necessiated on so many levels. Better homeland security and intelligence, better relations with other countries, and border communities among others.
But let's not forget (constant) migration to a "better place" is a universal human characteristic. History is proof, or how else would the lands be populated?

To some extent I agree with the article. Terrorism and drug cartels probably have some connections. It's all "big business"- drugs. I think terrorists and other "enemies of the country" are trying to bleed America, no one in the world would gain from the total destruction of it- economically speaking. However, in light of the article, it said that "The drug cartels have highly sophisticated smuggling and money-laundering networks, which terrorists COULD access."
We should not scare easily by our government, on what "could" happen- its all speculation. We don't have time for speculation. We lose sight of what's really going on. Change starts at home.
The U.S. is where the money is at, everyone knows this, hence the consequences we face.
Drugs (big business-capitalism), terrorism (hate-violence), and migration (search-hope)- that's the way the world works. we need to stop being so suprised by reality and do some damage control!
