they are incredibly behind on all papers..but i don't think it will take years..maybe months..(its taken me and my husband 5 years to get all of his papers approved and taken care of)From experience..they are in no hurry to help people in any way. And once your husband gets here is another long hard road to go through being able to get the papers approved for him to work.

That I-30 the person below me said for you to file..DON'T FILE THAT UNTIL THEY TELL YOU..and that paper alone takes AT LEAST 2 years to get approved...it took my husband that long to get that one 5 years ago so its probably longer now.
and don't listen to the people who think they know everything and have never been through it..believe me there are millions of them out there who will tell you something and thats not the way it is. thats what happened to me until i finally just called their office myself.
go to WNW/U,S, gov, immigration , you will find web sites there that explain every thing including time limits, one thing you may want to especially look for is the expedited visa it cost very little more and you could have your spouse here within about 90 days ( if lucky) also if time is important get a good immigration lawyer to apply for you as the are not supposed to make mistakes on the application and any time there is a omission or mistake it will cost at least 60 days more ,
It does not take years. It might take as long as one year, though. What would help would be if you are extremely well-organized, have all the documents you need ahead of time, and can file the I-130 as soon as you return to the US. Here is the process:
