Is Mel Martinez A Hypocrite Extraordinaire ?
Lying.
Ok, he isn’t coming right out and saying they are lying but he knows that they are pandering to their base - which is exactly what he did back in 2004 when he acted tough on illegal immigration to get unsuspecting Republican voters to elect him.
Nobody believes that any of the top tier GOP candidates will do a darn thing about the problems American citizens are facing as a result of the lack of control of our borders. But Senator Mel Martinez, who angered his constituents in Florida by betraying their trust so blatantly they are attempting to recall him, is now lashing out at “former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani for opposing and mischaracterizing the Senate immigration bill Mr. Martinez helped craft”.
My, my, my. It seems like only yesterday Mr. Martinez was singing a different tune during his own election campaign, saying to all that would believe him:
“Our immigration policy should first and foremost ensure the security of our great Nation and those individuals posing a terrorist threat should be prevented from entering our country. I strongly oppose amnesty for illegal aliens; our immigration laws should not reward lawlessness.”
But of course, in the opinion of Mr. Martinez, the shamnesty bill wasn’t amnesty at all and he will slam anyone that tries to portray it as such:
“It’s about leading on the tough issues,” Mr. Martinez told the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce in comments first reported in yesterday’s St. Petersburg Times. “It was easy to say, ‘This wasn’t good enough, this isn’t right, I don’t agree with Martinez.’ … But at the end of the day, what is your answer? How would you solve this?”
While I’m sure Giuliani’s and Romney’s opinions will change IF they are ever elected, just as the opinion of Mel Martinez changed the minute his butt hit the chair of his office in D.C., the hypocrisy of Martinez is laughable. But if he would really like an answer to his questions above of, “But at the end of the day, what is your answer? How would you solve this?” - I can tell him how he can find his answers quite easily.

The GOP used Katherine Harris in the 2000 recall election to put W in office, then when they helped her get elected as a house member. But when she ran for the Senate, the GOP and the President threw her under the bus, so that a Hispanic Mel Martinez, that would carry the water for the rights of the illegals and the President. Mel Martinez is only a front man for a failed amnesty
