"MEXICO CITY (AP) - The closure of an American-run railroad in Mexico stranded thousands of U.S.-bound Central American migrants near the Guatemala border.

Many have been deported today by immigration officials.

Some migrants tried to walk hundreds of miles to the next working rail line. Others -- with no money or provisions -- turned themselves in to Mexican authorities.

The government this week sent federal police and soldiers to clear out the migrants, who for decades have hopped freight cars on the Chiapas-Mayab railway.

In late July, Connecticut-based Genesee & Wyoming withdrew from a 30-year concession to operate the line.

Central American migrants continued to stream into the area. Thousands were camped along rail lines -- waiting for trains."

What do you think?

Answers:

Why can't state and local officials enforce immigration laws?

I have two reactions to that story

1. Mexico likes to preach tolerance from Americans for the people of Mexico who illegally immigrate but they have zero tolerance when it comes to their own illegal immigrants, how ironic... Maybe we need to copy Mexico's stance on illegal immigration.

2. American run railroad bringing in illegal immigrants from Central America, did I read that right? Migrants as in visa's or what?

EDIT:
Yes well I can understand their closure, the legalities of illegal immigrant injuries while hanging off the sides and top of your train trying to make it to the United States is a little staggering...

Why do we militarize the border...?

wow, :(

Trouble flying from one state to another on expired business visa?

It sounds to me that the Mexican government should build a wall on their southern border and stop those law breakers from invading, sort of like we should do on our southern border

A long overdue step in the right direction - South.

Life's a biech, then you die.

Do the people left in Mexico have the Internet?

If you know the complete story of central American immigrants trying to get across Mexico so they can enter the U.S. you will know that anything done to them here is minor compared to the criminal mistreatment by the Mexicans.

How hard is immigrating to Denmark?

I think that we should adopt Mexico immigration policy, and let the chips fall where they may. I must say I do feel sorry for those Central Americans. I wish that Mexico would have as much compassion for those Central Americans as they demand we have their Mexicans Nationals in our country. I read that Mexican Consular was in Utah the scene of the mining accident from day one to provide whatever help and protection as needed , as well they should, but I wish they were just as concerned about those Mexicans in Mexico as well. I am going to repeat this again, Mexico is colonizing one illegal at a time. Why would they have over 50 Mexican Consular in almost all states, 10 in both California and Texas
to provide for their well being here in the USA

Applications?

Deport all illegals from the U.S. just like how the Mexican govt deports illegals in their country.
