I have heard you can search through ICE with their alien number, but you need to know what it is. If you know they have been detained but aren't sure where they are, ICE is where you should start (or an immigration attorney.)

You can try to call the INS office where he was picked up, but likely they are mixed in the system and it will be hard to locate.
Try calling Mexico first. Usually they are deported withing 3 days of being picked up.
